passion

I don't remember my kindergarten through fourth grade home-school curriculum including much more than writing and reading. I am sure it did though. Before cell phones and the option to take it away, punishments were 500 words explaining my mistake and my apology.

Growing up my father owned and produced a Bilingual (English and Spanish) newspaper. I was surrounded by article writing, Ad designing and sales. I started writing at a young age, my parents had me write in a journal daily. I still keep a journal today and have journals dating back to when I was around 7 years old. I have written documentation of the high school years. Scary, yes but I am glad to have them. It is interesting to look back on a moment in my life when all the emotions and details were so clear and I had forgotten all about them.

My father has a degree in Journalism so naturally he edited most of my papers throughout high school. This meant late hours trying to keep my eyes open while we went through revision after revision together. It was so worth it, though at 2 A.M. it was hard to believe so.

I have many passions and sometimes that can feel overwhelming. That sounds a little ridiculous but seriously, there are just so many things I want to do with my time and my life. Sometimes it feels like there isn't enough time to dedicate to everything I feel strongly about. I have strong passions for music, for eating healthy, for fitness and for travel. Over the past couple of years I finally realized how I can tie those all together. Writing.

I am passionate about reaching others, to inspire and to motivate. The realization that I have the opportunity and capability of doing so through my writing finally clicked. It's funny because I was given this blog post topic through a writing challenge and I wasn't sure where to begin so I just started writing. I then realized I was writing about writing.

When I started this blog I didn't know what I really wanted to do with it. Now I want to share my college experiences, my travel travel experiences and how I finally get abs.  I plan to share that all with you through my writing. I have high hopes and goals for this little website. I secretly wanted to be a magazine editor and then I realized I didn't just want to work for any magazine. I want to own and produce my own publication. Right now I am doing that, not at the scale I'd like to but it is a start.  I am hoping that this blog will only continue to grow and give me many opportunities in the future.
