When I am feeling bored I can usually solve the problem with a project of some sort. I was motivated to do a DIY project after seeing a pin on Pinterest of how to make colored vases. So I went to Wal-Mart and Michael's and picked up some supplies. I purchased a clear vase from Wal-Mart for about $3.00 and the acrylic paint I used was a $1.00 each. The paint is multi-surface acrylic paint in white and Pacific Coast. I used about half of one of the blue bottles of paint to complete the project.

First I rinsed out the vase with water and then rinsed it with rubbing alcohol. I dried it out by turning the vase upside down on a paper towel for about 10 minutes.

I then mixed the blue paint with a little bit of water just to thin out the consistency a bit so it would spread around the vase easier.

I poured the paint into the vase and gently turned it so the paint would cover the entire inside of the vase. Don't shake or stir the pain around too vigorously, it will create air bubbles and the paint won't look even. I poured the excess paint out and let the vase dry upside down on paper towels for about 20 minutes and then added a second coat.

After letting the second coat dry I put the vase in the oven and then turned on the oven to 350 degrees. You want to let the vase heat up with oven. Leave it in there for 30 minutes and then let the vase or glass thing you painted cool down with the oven.

That's how it's done.

It's such a cheap and easy way to add color to your home. I plan on decorating my master bathroom (which has an ocean theme) with vases that are this Pacific Coast blue and then some that are white. I am also buying new gray and light blue towels to add to the theme.

I have another project I ran into at Michael's that I haven't started yet but I will definitely share with you over the next few days!
