I took a break for a few days. A break from being I took a break for a few days. A break from being as active on social media. A break from going to the gym (4 rest days 😜) and I even took a couple days away from school 😅.

AND it was completely worth it. Taking days off to rest sometimes pays off really well. Today I’m feeling so ready to kill a back and shoulder day 🔥.

I’m also feeling a lot more excited about my research for a paper ✌🏽. 

Rest isn’t necessarily  unproductive. I have to remind myself this all the time. I am someone who likes to take on a lot (sometime too much), and I put a lot of pressure to perform at a very high level. It’s not a bad thing as long as I acknowledge when I need to take a step back and hit reset.

Some of you, well, we go wayyy back. But I’ve al Some of you, well, we go wayyy back. But I’ve also connected with some new friends recently on here, so today I’m sharing 10 random facts about myself. 😛 Let me know if we have anything in common! 

1. I took 5 nutrition courses in my undergrad program...I was not a nutrition major lol but just really enjoyed learning about how food works in the body and how it impacts different populations. AND also for different reasons they applied to my degree. 

2. I play the guitar and sing; when I was kid I sang a song live on the radio.

3. I am currently working on a Master’s degree in Rhetoric, Writing and Digital Media Studies.

4. I have been weightlifting for over 6 years. it’s the one sport that I have not gotten bored of and have been able to show up for long term. 

5. I grew up in a mountain town in Arizona (it snows there...yes I am serious) and I currently live in Salt Lake City, Utah.

6. I have traveled 10 countries and as soon as possible I’ll be adding more!

7. I’m Dominican and Ecuadorian. My mom is from The Dominican Republic and my Dad is from Ecuador. 

8. I will have a completely clean house but a full sink of dirty dishes...because I leave them for last. I really hate doing the dishes lol.

9. Oatmeal raisin cookies are the best cookies. Oatmeal raisin > chocolate chip. I said it.

10. If the blankets on my bed get messed up in the middle of the night (tangled, uneven, falling off the bed, etc.) and I wake up and notice...I might get out of bed and fix it. I also make my bed everyday because it bothers me to leave the bed unmade. 😂 

Do we have anything in common? Also any other oatmeal raisin cookie fans out there? I know we must have a club.

I remember years ago watching “Gilmore Girls”. I remember years ago watching “Gilmore Girls”...some episode where yet again they eat an inhumane amount of junk food...and somehow looked like THAT. I was like...How?!

🥵Lol I mean, the truth is that it’s not reality. It’s a TV show 😂

BUT, you can absolutely have your pizza and eat it too. When you train with me you get to eat cookies, or pizza, or whatever foods are your vibe, you just learn balance. You eat GOOD while also creating your dream body 😜

I am not a fan of completing cutting out foods nor standard macro/food tracking. It’s not sustainable long term. So instead I teach you how to track food as a learning tool, WHILE ALSO being mindful about what you are eating. you LEARN how much you need to eat as well as recognize and respect your body’s cues😛 

This way you actually learn about nutrition, ditch dieting mentally, and feel confident eating healthy long term.

My semester is officially in full swing. 😬😂

☀️So here is what I do: 
• I schedule my time each day for work, school, and gym. I do this the night before usually.
• I try to do specific tasks, projects, etc. on specific days every week.
• I set a time frame for the gym so I know when I am supposed to go.
• I have a timer/ calendar reminder each day for the gym time block. Today’s set for 8pm!
• Ultimately though, I make it a priority. It’s important to me. I have to continue to decide to go and choose it for myself. I am the only who ultimately cares if I go or not. 🤍✌🏽

Because motivation is fleeting.

☀️Set yourself up for success:
• write out a plan/schedule for the next day. 
• schedule your time slot for your workout 
• carry your water bottle around with you...and drink water throughout the day
• stock your kitchen with fun exciting foods that also work with your goals
• challenge your limiting beliefs daily-Meditate, and or journal.
• surround yourself with like minded people going after the same things, who understand your goals, struggles, and will support you.
